Klaviyo Partner Tiers Explained, and What Platinum Actually Gets a Brand
Share
Last updated: October 1, 2026. This guide is reviewed and updated quarterly.
Direct answer: Klaviyo runs two partner tracks. Agencies that actively manage client accounts climb the Master track: Silver Master, Gold Master, Platinum Master, Elite Master. Per Klaviyo's last publicly released partner requirements document, Platinum Master requires $10,000 in monthly recurring Klaviyo revenue referred and $10,000 managed. Elite Master requires $20,000 of each plus a twice-yearly committee nomination. The practical benefits a brand would care about, meaning priority product support, a dedicated partner manager, and a dedicated partner success manager, are identical at Platinum and Elite. "Platinum Elite" is not a Klaviyo tier. Neither is "Master Elite."
Why we are writing this
Nearly every agency roundup you will read treats the word Elite as a synonym for best, and most of them get the tier names wrong while doing it. We have seen "Platinum Elite," "Master Elite," and "Elite Master" used interchangeably in the same article, sometimes alongside a tier called "Master" that does not exist on its own.
That matters because tier is doing real work in buying decisions. A brand comparing three agencies will often rank them by badge, assuming the badge is a quality signal. It is a signal. It is just not a signal about the thing most brands think it measures.
We are a Klaviyo Platinum Partner, which means we sit one rung below the top of the Master track. We could write the version of this article that implies the ladder stops where we stand. Instead here is the whole ladder, the actual requirements, and an honest read on what separates the tiers in practice. Sticky Digital would rather be the agency that explained the badge accurately than the one that hid behind it.
The two tracks
Most tier confusion comes from not knowing there are two tracks.
The Advisor track is for partners who refer business to Klaviyo without managing client accounts. It runs Klaviyo Partner, Silver Advisor, Gold Advisor, Platinum Advisor. Consultants, affiliates, and technology partners typically sit here.
The Master track is for partners actively managing client accounts on Klaviyo's behalf. Strategy, technical support, campaign and flow execution, ongoing optimization. It runs Silver Master, Gold Master, Platinum Master, Elite Master. Any agency running your email program should be on this track, and a partner who submits managed accounts gets moved onto it automatically.
Crucially, Klaviyo verifies managed accounts with the client directly. A partner submits the account's API key and the client's contact details, and Klaviyo emails the client to confirm the agency actually manages it. The client has to say yes. That verification step is the most underrated part of the program, because it means managed revenue figures are not self-reported.
What each Master tier requires
From Klaviyo's 2022 partner program requirements, the last version the company released publicly. Klaviyo has since stopped publishing tier requirements on its public site, so treat these as the documented baseline rather than as live figures.
| Requirement | Silver | Gold | Platinum | Elite |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Min. MRR referred | $250 | $2,500 | $10,000 | $20,000 |
| Min. MRR managed | $250 | $2,500 | $10,000 | $20,000 |
| Min. SMS MRR referred | None | $500 | $1,000 | 25% of managed accounts |
| Klaviyo visible on website | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Client email health score | Not measured | Not measured | Not measured | 65+ average |
| Team certification rate | 1 employee | 1 employee | 1 employee | 50% of team |
| Committee nomination | No | No | No | Yes, twice yearly |
Read the client email health score row again. It is the only requirement anywhere in the ladder that measures what happens to client accounts, and it appears only at Elite. Silver, Gold, and Platinum are earned entirely on revenue routed and a single certified employee.
Tiers also move. Klaviyo downtiers twice a year, in April and October, and uptiers on a rolling basis. An agency's badge reflects its trailing Klaviyo book, so a badge earned two years ago may not reflect current standing.
What Platinum actually gets a brand
This is the part nobody publishes, and it is the part that should decide how much weight you give the badge.
| Benefit | Gold | Platinum | Elite |
|---|---|---|---|
| Priority in-app product support | No | Yes | Yes |
| Dedicated partner manager | Eligible | Yes | Yes |
| Dedicated partner success manager | Eligible | Yes | Yes |
| Developer experience support | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Revenue share, managed accounts | 3% | 4% | 4% |
| Access to Klaviyo leadership | Limited | Prioritized | Quarterly |
| Social promotion and annual trophy | No | No | Yes |
Every operational benefit that could plausibly affect your account is identical at Platinum and Elite. Same priority support queue when something breaks. Same dedicated partner manager. Same dedicated partner success manager. Same developer support. Same managed revenue share.
What Elite adds is a quarterly leadership cadence instead of prioritized access, individual promotion across Klaviyo's social accounts, and a physical trophy for the shelf. Those are real and they are worth something to the agency. None of them changes what the agency can do for you.
The honest summary of Platinum is this. It confirms the agency clears a meaningful revenue bar, manages a real book of client accounts that those clients confirmed to Klaviyo directly, is required to display the partnership publicly, and has the full set of escalation paths when your account has a problem. That is genuinely useful. It is also the complete list.
Why tier is a weak proxy for agency quality
Here is the structural problem, and it is nobody's fault. The partner program is a channel program. It exists to reward partners for growing Klaviyo's business, which is a legitimate thing for a software company to build. It was never designed as a quality rating for brands shopping for an agency, and it does not function as one.
Work through what the thresholds actually select for. An agency with forty small clients paying Klaviyo $250 each clears Platinum comfortably. An agency with eight enterprise clients running exceptional retention programs might not, if those clients happen to sit on contracts that do not aggregate to the threshold. Tier rewards the volume of Klaviyo revenue in your book, so it correlates with agency size far more tightly than with agency skill.
Then consider what tier never asks about below Elite. It does not ask whether flow revenue grew. It does not ask whether repeat purchase rate improved. It does not ask whether a single client renewed. One certified employee satisfies the certification requirement at Silver, Gold, and Platinum alike, which means a forty-person agency and a three-person agency meet the identical bar.
Elite's rubric is more demanding and worth understanding, because it is the only place client outcomes enter. Nominated partners are evaluated on leadership engagement, operational maturity, product utilization beyond core features, client account health against Klaviyo benchmarks, and marketing advocacy for Klaviyo. Read that list closely. Roughly half of it measures the agency's relationship with Klaviyo rather than its results for clients. Case study creation, testimonials, and lead generation for Klaviyo are explicit evaluation criteria.
That is not a criticism of Klaviyo. A channel program should reward channel contribution. It is a caution against reading a channel badge as a client outcome rating, which is exactly how the badge gets used in practice.
What the certifications actually cover
Certification language gets used loosely in agency marketing, so it is worth knowing what sits behind it.
The Klaviyo Partner certification teaches partners how to work the partner program itself: the tools available to partners, how to position Klaviyo to prospects, where the resources live. It is about the partnership, not the platform. The Klaviyo Product certification is the platform one, covering segmentation, design practice, and campaign strategy, with an assessment at the end. Both require one employee to score 80 percent or above.
One employee. That is the bar at Silver, Gold, and Platinum alike. An agency can hold Platinum with a single certified person and forty people who have never taken the course. Only at Elite does the requirement become 50 percent of the team, across product, sales, SMS, SMS strategy, and solutions integration certifications.
So "Klaviyo certified" on an agency website is a true statement that carries almost no information. The useful question is what share of the people who would actually touch your account hold current certifications, which is a question tier will never answer for you.
How to verify a tier claim yourself
You do not have to take an agency's word for it. Klaviyo maintains a public partner directory, and every partner at Silver and above is eligible to be listed there. Partners maintain their own directory pages, and the listing shows current tier.
Two minutes in the directory settles most of it. If an agency claims a tier that does not appear on its Klaviyo listing, that is worth asking about directly. The usual innocent explanation is a tier that moved at the last April or October adjustment and a website nobody updated. The less innocent explanation is a tier that was aspirational to begin with.
Also check that the badge on the agency's site matches the track. Klaviyo provides a logo kit at each tier, and a Platinum Advisor badge and a Platinum Master badge represent very different businesses.
How to actually use tier when evaluating an agency
Tier is a useful filter and a terrible ranking.
Use it as a floor. Platinum or above on the Master track tells you the agency manages a verified book of client accounts at real scale and has escalation paths when something breaks. That is worth screening for.
Do not rank your shortlist by it. Once two agencies are both at Platinum or above, tier has told you everything it can. The difference between them is not in the badge.
Check the track. An Advisor-track Platinum refers business to Klaviyo without managing accounts. That is a different company than a Master-track Platinum. If the badge does not specify, ask.
Ask when it was last confirmed. Tiers adjust in April and October against a trailing book. "We're Platinum" and "we were Platinum in 2023" are different claims.
Then ask the questions tier cannot answer. What is our flow revenue as a share of email revenue, and what should it be. Which lifecycle stage is weakest right now. Who owns suppression across email and SMS. What happens to scope if the right recommendation is to send less. We went deeper on that evaluation framework in our guide to the best email marketing agency for DTC brands.
Sticky Digital is a Klaviyo Platinum Partner and a retention-only agency, which means email, SMS, loyalty, and subscription are the entire business rather than one service line. You can see what that scope covers or read about the team running these accounts. We would still rather you judged us on the flow audit than the badge.
FAQ
What are the Klaviyo partner tiers?
Klaviyo runs two tracks. The Advisor track, for partners who refer business without managing accounts, runs Klaviyo Partner, Silver Advisor, Gold Advisor, and Platinum Advisor. The Master track, for agencies actively managing client Klaviyo accounts, runs Silver Master, Gold Master, Platinum Master, and Elite Master. Elite Master is the highest tier. "Platinum Elite" and "Master Elite" are not tier names, despite appearing frequently in agency roundups.
What does Klaviyo Platinum Partner mean?
Platinum Master is the third of four tiers on Klaviyo's agency track. Per Klaviyo's last public requirements document, it requires $10,000 in monthly recurring Klaviyo revenue referred and $10,000 managed, $1,000 of which must be SMS, plus visible acknowledgment of the Klaviyo partnership on the agency's website. Platinum partners receive priority in-app product support, a dedicated partner manager, a dedicated partner success manager, and prioritized access to Klaviyo leadership.
What is the difference between Klaviyo Platinum and Elite?
The revenue thresholds double, from $10,000 to $20,000 in both referred and managed monthly recurring revenue, and Elite adds requirements Platinum does not have: a 65-plus average client email health score, 50 percent of the team certified, at least one case study per year, and a twice-yearly committee nomination. The operational benefits are identical. Priority support, dedicated partner manager, dedicated partner success manager, developer support, and managed-account revenue share are the same at both tiers. Elite adds quarterly leadership access, social promotion from Klaviyo, and an annual award.
Does a higher Klaviyo tier mean better results for my brand?
Not reliably. Below Elite, no tier requirement measures client outcomes at all. Thresholds are based on Klaviyo revenue referred and managed, which correlates with agency size more closely than with agency skill, and a single certified employee satisfies the certification requirement at Silver, Gold, and Platinum alike. Tier works well as a minimum filter and poorly as a way to rank a shortlist.
How often do Klaviyo partner tiers change?
Klaviyo downtiers twice a year, in April and October, and uptiers partners on a rolling basis throughout the year. Elite status is granted only on April 1 and October 1 following a committee review, and is held for at least one full year before reevaluation. Because tier reflects a trailing book of Klaviyo revenue, it is worth asking an agency when its tier was last confirmed.
Where to start
If you are comparing agencies and the badges have stopped being useful, we are happy to give you an outside read on your current program instead. That tells you more than any tier will.
